Selling
Seller guidelines
A few simple standards keep Mikey's Market trustworthy for everyone. Every seller agrees to follow them.
The spirit of the market
Mikey's Market is for independent makers, small businesses and pet owners. Buyers should always know exactly what they're getting and who they're buying from. If in doubt, be more honest, not less.
What you can sell
- Handmade pet products you've made yourself, such as toys, collars, leads, beds, clothing and gifts.
- New pet products in their original condition.
- Pre-loved (second-hand) pet equipment that is clean, safe and works as described.
- Pet-themed goods for owners, such as prints and homeware, where they suit the market.
What you can't sell
- Live animals of any kind.
- Prescription or veterinary medicines, and products making medical claims.
- Food or treats unless you meet the food safety and labelling rules that apply where you sell.
- Recalled, counterfeit, damaged or unsafe items.
- Products made from endangered species, or anything that's illegal to sell.
- Items that promote cruelty, such as prong, shock or choke collars.
Honest listings
- Use your own photos that show the actual item. No stock images for handmade or pre-loved items.
- Choose the right condition: handmade, new or second-hand.
- Describe sizes, materials and any care instructions clearly.
- Set a fair, all-in price with no hidden extras.
- Never post fake reviews, ratings or claims about your shop or anyone else's.
Pre-loved items
Pre-loved gear is one of the best things about Mikey's Market. Please wash or clean items before listing, mention any wear, marks or missing parts, and photograph any flaws. If it isn't something you'd happily give to a friend's pet, please don't list it.
Safety first
Think carefully about small parts, loose threads, toxic materials and choking hazards. Label toys with the kind and size of pet they suit, and include any supervision advice. Sellers are responsible for making sure their products are safe and meet the laws that apply to them.
How we treat each other
Be kind, respond to buyers promptly and keep conversations respectful. Harassment, discrimination or misleading behaviour isn't welcome here.
If something goes wrong
We may edit, hide or remove listings that don't follow these guidelines, and we may suspend shops for serious or repeated problems. We'll always try to explain why. If you spot a listing that breaks these rules, please let us know.
These guidelines will grow as seller shops open. We'll let sellers know before making important changes.
